Season Finales (2005)
School is winding down (I'm actually on target or ahead of the game at the moment) so there was enough time to catch the several season finales that were showing this week. First there was 24. Now that was an ending. Though, for some reason with 24 I was expecting a second rough missile to enter the picture. The last 15 minutes left me stunned with the whole faking death (but technically being dead) thing. Did you see Flatliners back in the day? It was almost like a moment out of Flatliners, I think. Blast from the past because because Kiefer was both?
And then there was NCIS. You heard rumors that one of the cast was going to be killed. Message boards buzzed with ideas about who could die and who could not (using ratings and demographics as reasoning). Those NCIS writers really left you guessing until the end and within those last 2 minutes, I actually gasped. It was a great end (if that's possible when she was shot through the head via a sniper riffle) for Kate. Well played out. And no, I wouldn't have guessed it but in hindsight, I could see that it was foreshadowed.
Don't forget about LOST and Alias. Those were last night. Actually I haven't yet watched the Alias finale (it's on tape) because it didn't start until 10pm and that is just way to passed my bedtime. Anyway, in true J.J. fashion he ended the last half hour of the two hour season finale with open questions and a "I have to wait months to see what happens!!!". He definitely left viewers wanting more (a lot more) between the mysterious hatch finally being blown open (that ladder sure looks rickety) and the guys on the boat taking the kid. I'm guessing those rough-looking characters where actually the "others". If not, they had to be pirates. Did anyone else expect the "Black Rock" to be a grounded slave ship from the several centuries ago? Good twist.
I've already seen my Andromeda finale. I would really like another season of Andromeda after that one - now that I finally started watching it. I guess I just have to assume they lived happily ever after. And, of course Stargate SG-1 and Stargate Atlantis have also finished for the season but they will be back in July. They keep things going pretty much year round, which is nice. So that won't be as long of a wait. And, I just found out there will be a second season of The 4400. I'm really interested to see where that one picks up again. The twist at the end of last season was really unexpected.
Mom and I have plans to see the last Star Wars episode a week from Sunday, when I'm finally done with school and watch it in peace.
