The Dive Inn

So Mom and I attended a family function this morning. With the schedule conflicts we've had for the last few years, it's been very difficult to travel, but this one we were able to make work. We were only able to stay a short time (for the mass) before we have to drive back up so Mom could get to work. Anyway, to keep off some of the stress, we drove down last night. Because the weather was poor (downpours) and traffic accidents, it took at least a half hour long than expected to get to the hotel. Now we weren't expecting the world but… (and names shall rename nameless). It really was more of a motel and just didn't give you that warm, fuzzy feeling. I think part of that was because the room stunk of cigarette smoke. (Sorry, but I just don't find that pleasant). The ceiling had strange stains between the tiles. Oh and the note said the first floor rooms were renovated. We were on the second floor. I think the part that really made me sick was to almost use a stained washcloth this morning. Thank goodness there was a spare.

I think we should have guessed that we were in for trouble when the gas station attendant wished us "be safe". I guess the area isn't particularly top class. The whole hotel experience was just skeezy. Oh well, at least we only had to sleep there for a short while. We did end up running across a busy road to buy ice cream at the diner across the street. Not the smartest thing to do when the cars are traveling at least 50 miles per hour. Oh well, we played Frogger and won!

We are back safely from our outing to see family. That is the good (and important) part. I'll just need to shower a few extra times, I guess to get rid of that skeezy feeling.
