Dad's Fish Stories

There is a pond in my development. It's been there at least as long as I've lived in the house. I can't remember if it's man-made or natural. I'm leaning towards natural because I remember seeing freshwater clam shells on the shores. It's not particularly easy to access the shores. My friends and I used to sneak back there via a utility access road that goes through the middle of the development. Aside from the shellfish, there are also fish in the water.

There is another access point to the pond. It runs under a main road outside of the development. It makes for a nice 2 mile walk (round trip). I try to make it up to the pond on weekends. Dad came home once years back saying he had walked up to the pond and saw a fish this big. You have to love those fish stories. We knew there were fish in the pond, but we didn't think they were that big. On occasion I catch sight of fish that seem to be of decent size, but today I think I saw a whole family of them. Yes, I know a bunch of fish is called a school, but for some reason it didn’t seem to apply here. There had to be at least 10 fish near the edge of the water this morning. The water was fairly cloudy but I could see their outlines rather well. Each one had to be about a foot long. I was amazed. I don't think I’ve seen that much activity in pond in years and I mean years.
