I throw like a girl.
I'll admit it. I really do throw like a girl. I'm just not very coordinated when it comes to sports. And girls, there's nothing wrong with that!!! After several injuries in high school, I was no longer permitted to participate in PE (aka physical education aka gym) because it was just getting too expensive. Actually it really was not so much that as I was risking irreparable permanent damage after sports equipment smashed into my face on several occasions. Yes and for the record, it did hurt!
Anyway, I was at an offsite meeting today and near the end the Chief handed me a beanbag flag (like you see on football games when there’s a penalty) and said to throw it when he gave the word. My response to that, Ok, but I throw like a girl. He laughed. I figured that comment would be good for a laugh.
So after most people left, another team member wanted to play catch with one of the foam footballs that was handed out. Needless to say I warned him about how I threw like a girl and would probably make an idiot of myself. After a few tries I started to get somewhat better and I even caught most of the return passes. Granted, I got nervous when the Chief walked over and started giving pointers. I'm not that good under pressure when it comes to hand-eye coordination. It all just goes out the window.
The moral of the story is that yes, I throw like a girl and I’m ok with that. And, with a little practice, I can throw a little bit better. I can even catch without getting smashed in the face (or at least this time I did).
