At Last my PageRank has Come Along

Call me excited. Even though I do web design for a living, it's all internal application related so I'm not completely wise to the ways of the search engine, but I’m working on it. I've been reading about search engine optimization and trying to get a handle on the dos and don'ts. I submitted my web site to a bunch of directories in order to start building backlinks and I’ve even been listed in some. I even tried my first trackback yesterday.

I swear I'm coming out of the blogging dark-ages. Comments won't be too far behind the next official release of Movable Type. It was just released to Beta the other day and it looks really exciting from this lightweight blogger's perception.

But all that knowledge is just the tip of the iceberg. I've been waiting for the next Google Directory update because a toolbar PageRank update wouldn't be too far behind. I was pretty upset a few months ago when all my PageRanks across all my web sites sunk to a depressing 0. And that was besides the infamous PR toolbar outage of May 2005.

It seems that since late yesterday, both my backlinks and my PR were updated!!! I think I'm at my highest PR ever with this web site, a 4. I think the highest I ever went before was 3 with my work web site. Ok, so all the pages on this web site aren't either ranked or ranked highly but it's a start, right? It’s come a long way, baby!
