Chilling Events in London

Just yesterday London was joyous in learning it would host the 2012 Summer Olympics and several days before was one of the Live 8 Concerts in Hyde Park. And, there was a final Live 8 Concert in Edinburgh yesterday as well.

This morning I woke up to news of an explosion in the London "tubes" that was initially blamed on power. At least that was the initial report over here in the US that I caught. By the time I made it into the office, Mom had already left me a message that it was most likely a terrorist attack and there were more explosions.

One group is claiming responsibility in a posted letter, but I guess it will be some time before we know if they actually did what they claimed to have done or if it was another group. At least one news organization is reporting that threats have been made against other European cities but I'm having trouble finding others reporting the same.

It's chilling, just chilling. I remember where I was when 9/11 happened and the first reaction with the first plane was pilot error. Who would think…right? Oh, what we know now.

My thoughts and prayers go out to the people of London.

Updates

In my journey home this evening I saw police at several of the train stations. It just made me incredibly sad. There really are not words beyond that.
