The Historian, By Elizabeth Kostova
Mom picked up a book the other day at the local bulk warehouse that she was interested in reading. The only problem is that she buys books, sometimes, that she doesn't have time to read. It's currently on the New York Times Best Sellers List. She suggested that I would be interested in it since it talks about our fascination with vampires and the quest to find Vlad Dracula himself.
So before heading out for her day trip she dropped, The Historian by Elizabeth Kostova on my bed for me to read. It's a massive book. At least it will fit into my carryall. And for as big as it is, it's not very heavy, like a textbook (shiver). I'll let you know how it goes.

Updates
So I'm a few days into the book and it is very good. I didn't even take my nap on the way home today. The language makes it very easy to read as it’s narrated as a retelling of previous events. Now some would consider the subject matter too fanciful to be real, but what if it were. A few years back I bought one of those Complete Idiots' Guides to none other than vampires! That reminds me. I should dig it out and look through it.

So I finished my huge fiction book. Not too bad considering I only had about 3 hours a day to read it - with interuptions. It definately was not the easiest book that I read because there was just so much to it. I think I need to go back and read it again, taking notes. I don't know my early 20th centry history well enough so I was getting confused at times what was where. I would definately recommend reading it but you probably want to take notes along the way in order to keep it all straight.
