Even a bunch of crazy things can happen in one month.

Sticker Shock at the Pump

In the wake of Hurricane Katrina, the gas prices are threatening to jump to $4 per gallon. Now is not the time to wait to fill the tanks. I had serious sticker shock at the current rates, let alone post-hurricane rates.

The Party That Nearly Wasn't (updated)

Mom took a bunch of friends into city to celebrate her party. Despite a few near catastrophes, we all made it and had fun.

The Corn Muffin Almost Fiasco

I managed to make myself a batch of corn muffins to take with me to work as a second breakfast. I think that's the first time I've tried baking in years. Mission accomplished, it seems.

It's Almost Here (updated)

The newest version of Movable Type is due to release today (pending any last minute chaos). I'm excited as it will have unlimited blogs and top-level default templates. It was interesting to be a part of the month-long beta testing session, even in a very small way. And with GoLive CS2 support for tags, I really should be able to get stuff done, once I find a few minutes.

We Grow Strange Weeds

Somewhere along the line of the last month when I haven't been weeding, we've grown two corn stalks in our landscaping. One even has a baby ear of corn. I need to get a picture of that before it gets picked!

Now That's Just Strange

Laundry detergent spilled over the floor in what can only be described as unusual circumstances. We don't think it was a botched break-in and even physics can't explain this one. It all depends on what you believe.

Now There's Something You Don't See Every Day

The expensive train had some sort of trouble this morning. The front conductor lowered himself down to the track level to try and fix it. There's nothing more strange than seeing a head bobbling around between a train and the platform. Good thing he turned off the power.

I Am Still the Trainfly

Despite having the crew changed on my local train, one conductor picked up on our pattern of changing cars and has started sneaking us into closed cars ahead of the others. It’s just too funny.

The Characters You Meet on the Train

It was a long trip home tonight. Unfortunately a train broke down at another city station, backing everything up. I ended up in an argument over people standing being asked to get off the train and wait for the next one. We just couldn't agree and no, I don't think they were selfish for staying like some people.

I Smell Like a Rotten Orange (updated)

So I had a bit of an oops with my morning juice and now my keyboard sells like a rotten orange and so did I for a while because I ended up with half the bottle me as well. I got a quick lesson in key popping and now have a long road of cleaning ahead of me. At least my keyboard survived.

Scenic Route to Work

Power problems on my usual train route left me taking the scenic route after I decided not to go my usual backup route. That made things a lot longer but maybe made a few new friends in the process.

Double Underscores instead of One - Beta testing Movable Type (updated)

I submitted a bug report to Movable Type/Six Apart for their category creation. If I put a "&" in the category name, it replaced that and the surrounding spaces with two underscores instead of one. That's different from how it used to behave.
