I Have Crab Spider Stuck to the Bottom of My Shoe

If there's one thing that I despise the most, it's spiders. Ok, peas rank up there too, but that's another story. I came downstairs this morning into the dark kitchen and flicked on the big light, only to realize that there was a fairly large black thing wedged between the laundry room door and wall.

Oh yes, it's that time of year again when the crab spiders (large enough to see across the room), invade the ground floor of the house. Last year at this time it wasn't as bad because I'd find one, freak out for a few seconds, scream for Dad, point to it and then run away. This year, unfortunately, the dirty work is left for me.

Since this morning's monster wedged in an area that my shoe would not fit (hands were not an option), I had to leave it be and come back for it later. After competing the final stages of my elaborate morning routine (I need a new hobby), I came back downstairs to grab my bags and run out the door. Then I realized the scary part. The crab spider was no longer in the same spot and no longer visible for that matter.

After I peaked around the kitchen for a few seconds, I had get going otherwise I'd miss my train and then I really would be cranky. But as I was just about to run through the laundry room, I figured that I should turn the light on. I don't like spider surprises. Sure enough, there he was on the floor molding. One quick "crunch" and he was done.

The only problem was that the squished spider was now stuck on the bottom of my shoe! Ewwwwwwww!!! I tried to coax it off, but only ended up leaving 2 legs behind. Sorry Mom, the train station was calling. I did try wiping it off on the outside door mat. For the record, I didn’t look back. My skin is still crawling.
