It's No Wonder NJ Car Insurance Rates Are So High

From what I hear, NJ has one of the highest if not the highest statewide car insurance rates. It certain US cities you’ll pay more, but for the average, NJ is a beast. For the record, I was originally thinking of titling this post "What Happened to Sunday Drivers".

Anyhoo… I ran out of the house for a few minutes to drop some mail by the post office so it would get out first thing Monday morning. Being a fairly cheap person, I try to stick to the speed limits and such because I don’t want to pay for tickets, accidents or insurance premium increases. And yes, of course, I have no desire to hurt anyone or my car. I'm not saying that I'm the best driver in the world, but I really do try.

On the way back from the post office, driving at about the speed limit for 35 mph, I had a car riding straight on my tail. It kept swerving out to see if it could pass, I'm assuming. I'm not even sure that it's a passing zone, but that hasn't stopped some drivers in the past. Once the road turned into two lanes, the other car sped off in the left lane as I made a right turn. Geeze, people. Calm down.

And then at the turn into my housing development, the oversized pickup truck behind me decided to just about run itself off the road to illegally pass me on right. The minivan behind him decided to the same. If they could have just waited 5 additional seconds, I could have made my turn. There was an oncoming car that I had to wait for. So instead, I'm stuck in the middle of the road, until they pass so that I don't hit them while they are doing an illegal maneuver. Hello!!! I usually try to pull a little further over the right when making that turn so that I can avoid such trouble, but it never dawned on me that a truck that big would try pulling that junk.

Like I said, it is no wonder NJ Car Insurance rates are so high. We have seriously crazy people on the streets, even here in the 'burbs.
