Ouch, That Hurt
Earlier this week, I made the annual trip to the doctor to get the general physical. The biggest thing on my mind was getting tested for heart disease indicators. Really all I am looking for at the moment is the blood check to see if I have nasty plaque running around my veins. With my family history, the doctor gave me no argument about running the tests. Thank goodness, otherwise I was going to have to find another doctor. Call me crazy, but I don’t wish to become a statistic.
So today I went with juice and granola bar in hand to the lab to get blood drawn after a 14-hour fasting period. Yeah, that's just tons of fun for someone who has a tendency to pass out if not fed properly and then you add blood removal... Luckily, the lab tech was very nice and let me drink my juice after the first vial was taken. I think that one was dependant on fasting while the second vial was not. Now I just need to wait about a week to find out the results.
The good news is that I did not pass out in the office, but by the time I got home, I had a splitting headache. After a snack, I fell completely asleep for at least an hour. My body is not a huge fan of fasting. Go figure.
