Big Dumpsters Make For Bad Neighbors
You've probably heard the old adage, "good fences make good neighbors". Now consider what happens when a neighbor does a construction project that results in the workers trespassing on your property. And, when you try to kindly tell them to cease and desist, they blow you off.
It's all a bit frustrating really. Within the last few months, the neighbor that is behind our house started a few construction projects that required one huge dumpster. The dumpster seemed to land on our property – at least a little bit. Without irrefutable proof, we really couldn't make a huge deal about it.
Mom and I tried to find the metal stakes marking the edges of the property. All we did was make ourselves look silly in the process. Yes, the mental pictures are as funny as you think. After a failed attempt with a metal detector, Mom called in the professionals. The survey results came today and sure enough, the property line is about where Mom thought. Actually, it's a little bit further in our favor in the places that matter.
The really annoying part in this whole situation is that our neighbors never asked Mom's permission or even let us know about the project. There's one thing you have to understand. You don't argue with my Mother. She generally knows what she’s talking about (and is right for that matter).
Tomorrow should be interesting.
