That's A Lot of Snow

6:00 AM
I pulled myself out of the bed to check out the situation. Last night it was coming down at a fair amount, but Mom and I still ventured out to dinner after Church. The Priest even cut things short to get us out as quickly as possible. There were definitely a lot more people there too. Based on the patio table out back, I'm guessing there’s about 6 inches of snow right now.

7:30 AM
I'm still up and watching coverage on the local NBC station. Mom's boss just called to say they are closed today. I'm not surprised because I just heard the statewide rail transit has been shutdown until further notice. It's apparently dangerous out there and while sometimes trains can run in crazy weather like this, the engineers and conductors may not be able to get their to drive the trains. That's a problem. Considering my area was just hit with the heavy band of snow within the last half hour, it's probably better to stay inside anyway. The patio table out back is probably up to about 8 inches right now. I'll try to get out later and take an "official" measurement.

10:00 AM
It's official. 15 inches are on the back table and now it's time to start shoveling.

12:00 PM
I had to stop for a little while and let my hands warm up. My nails were a lovely shade of blue. My neighbor stopped by for a few minutes with her bull dog, Johnny. Luckily the plow didn't plow us under too much at the bottom of driveway, not that it was easy to dig out either way.

12:45 PM
After another 45 minutes we called it quits. It's still snowing enough to give a light dusting over the dirty snow so at least things look cleaner. Now I can read my Stephen King book for the rest of the afternoon and snack. I think I've done enough exercise for one day.
