Did He Sniff That?

When I got out of my car this morning at the train station, it smelled like something was burning. And, not that good fireplace-type smell either. I start to get nervous when things smell funny like that because I start wondering what actually is burning. As I got up to the platform, the strange smell turned into what I could only describe as "berry yogurt". I’m not kidding. It really smelled like that to me. Again, with the getting nervous. Maybe this is why I don't eat berry yogurt because every time I smell it, it really turns out to be trash sludge or something.

The train pulled up rather fast and another regular rider happened to mention the goofy smell. He thought it smelled like pineapple. I told him that I was leaning towards berry yogurt. As we got on the train I mentioned to the conductor how it smelled rather strange out there. After he finished his station work and got back on the train, he called out that it smelled like berries to him. SCORE!!!!

At the next station, I would swear it smelled like proofing yeast. It didn't quite smell like bread but yeast that was being readied for baking. And this time it permeated the train. At least it didn't last too long.

The good news was that by the time we got to the last station, it didn't smell funny.
