Maybe Today Wasn’t So Bad After All
I originally planned to take today off because I scheduled an afternoon doctor’s appointment (just a checkup). Since it takes a while to get home from work, I wanted to save myself some stress. Needless to say, I had to schedule a morning meeting so taking the day off wasn’t an option any more.
I did decide to leave a train earlier than necessary so I didn’t have to rush. I could have made it with the later train but it was going to be tight and if missed the connection I would have been late for my appointment.
I caught the train as usual and as we surfaced from the tunnels to stop at the last city station, I heard the air brakes blow and the power go out. Apparently something fell off the building, hit the above wires and tripped the power.
At least the power was only out for about 10 minutes. It would have turned into an oven in there. Unfortunately whatever fell off the building also damaged the switch! So in total we sat there nearly an hour. I could have caught that later train after all.
I made it to the doctor’s appointment on time and he couldn’t even yell at me for not exercising enough for once.
The highlight of the day was finding a bunch of 4-leaf clovers when I went out walking tonight. I grabbed two and put them in between a book to save. So maybe today wasn’t so bad after all.

Updates
The train organization has a "ride guaranty" program that they return your fair, usually in the form of a coupon, if your train arrives more than 15 minutes late at its destination. Given I was over an hour late, I had submitted a claim. I figured if they tried not paying they'd say it was a problem that was out of their control. Instead, I received a notice saying that my train was not on the late list for the day. Huh? I wasn't really in the mood to "fight" for my $3. Goofy people.
