The Accidental Bonsai
Mom and I used the long weekend as an opportunity to do some yard work. She’s been after me to do some weeding in the backyard. I also used this as an excuse to toss some highlighter spray in my hair. Pathetic motivation for outdoor time I know.
Mom started surveying one of the evergreen trees that’s down the edge of the property. She kept saying it’s seriously leaning. She wasn’t kidding. I think the trunk is leaning a about a 45° angle towards the neighbor’s yard. The last thing we need is a bad storm to push that tree over.
She started chopping away at the branches while I plucked who knows what from the back landscaping. Ugh. It got a little too overgrown again! My body is going to hurt tomorrow.
After hours of chopping and trips to the local garden material dump, Mom unintentionally created this Bonsai like thing. It’s going to need to be cleaned up a bit as its rather rough cut. There’s nub things all over the trunk. I figure now that most of the weight is off the tree, it probably won’t fall over as easily, right?
Mom loves her creation. It’s really good for a laugh. Kind of reminds me a lion-cut Persian cat.
