Taking the Slow Lane

It’s amazing how much one takes for granted when one travels the Information Superhighway via broadband. I’ve been using either cable or T1 lines for about 6 years now with only the occasional stint on dial-up.

I’ve been reduced back to dial-up for the last 2 days because my Internet connection flipped out and I have to wait for a Tech guy to come out. Anyhoo, I’ve snuck online for a few minutes a night via AOL to download email and Microsoft Money files. Browsing the web is exceptionally slow. No mindless web surfing for me for the last few days, that’s for sure.

The one thing I’ve learned over the last few days is that it looks like people I’ve known for years still have their old AOL screen names. We’re talking about holding onto names for at least 10 years! Who am I to talk though, I still have my AOL name too. Since I’m waiting for the cable repair guy, I figured now was not the time to look the old gang up and strike up a conversation. At least I know I can try another day.
