Brunch

Ever just have one of those bizarre days. I had one final personal day to use before the year closed so after comparing schedules today was the best choice. My friend is in town for the holiday so we decided on brunch. I don’t think I've done brunch since I was 5.

When we get together, because we only see each other once or twice a year, we get a little crazy. The poor wait staff has to put up with us – we talk instead of figuring out what to order, we hog the table, etc. We try to leave a slightly larger tip after a serious who's paying fight.

The waiter today was one of the more characters that I've run across in a long time – rivaling the chick that didn't like lamb at the steakhouse.

He came back three times to try and take our order. At one point sat down and joined in the conversation. And even picked a hair off my shoulder? Apparently he doesn’t like one of the hostess/managers and used some colorful wording to describe that one. My friend and I argued over the check as usual. We both threw credit cards at it. I won. The waiter tossed her card at her. I don't do math under pressure so it was a little weird with him hovering while I filled it ou. I'm guessing he really doesn't love being a waiter.

We vacated the table so another paying customer could sit down and sat in the entry way. That threw the waiter for a loop and had to inquire. Somewhere along the line we got his medical history (poor guy's had a bad year) and that he broke up with his girlfriend last night. He did snap a quick photo for us – came out super cute. It was just a bizarre lunch but my friend and I really enjoyed catching up on gossip.
