Emergency Stocking Run

Christmas decorating was running seriously behind schedule this year. Mom did put up some lights outside right after Thanksgiving but after that, we really didn't do anything. I’m still working on the remnants of a really bad head cold so my motivation has been fairly low. I figured we were skipping the tree this year.

In the 11th hour (today) Mom decided to pull out the Christmas tree and asked me to toss some ornaments on it. The tree is lit using fiber optics so it's a quick setup (and cleanup for that matter). And then we ran into a new crisis. Where are the stockings? They weren't in the pile of stuff where we found them last year. And they weren't anywhere to be found in the attic (at least from what I could see).

Mom really wanted the stockings so I offered to take a last minute run to Target to see what they had left. From there, if I couldn’t find anything, we'd work on a Plan C. Luckily, there selection was still pretty extensive and I really had my pick. For fun, I picked up the seriously fuzzy stockings. Mom also wanted a set of the super small ones so the birds would each have their own. Did I mention that my family is on the small side? Literally and figuratively apparently.

Despite it being about 6 PM on the eve of the Eve, the lines really weren't that bad at Target. The lady in front of me on line made a comment about how great the little stockings are for gift cards. I told her that I’m sure they are, but Mom and I just figured out we couldn't find out stockings and she also wanted a set for our birds since she bought them little gifts too. At least I made her laugh.
