Out With the Ladies

Apparently ladies from the neighborhood go to the local pottery place to paint on a semi-regular basis. I’ve been meaning to go for years now but just hadn't gotten there yet. And it turns out the daughter of one of the ladies works there. Despite the fact that I generally turn into a Sci-Fi watching pumpkin on weekends, I just couldn't pass up the opportunity to get a little crafty (and socialize).

I'd been thinking about what I'd want to create for a couple of days and came up an oversized mug. But, not just any mug, I wanted to stick a couple of ladybugs on it with some sort of blue-green gradient on the background.

I'm proud of my little creation, but I have to wait about a week before I pick it up and see how it came out. The bugs even have little puffy paint spots and feelers. In hind sight, I would do one thing differently. I drove myself crazy trying to paint the background around the bugs. It turns out that I could have painted the background first and then put the bugs on top without a problem. Live and learn right?

I'm planning on taking it into the office. I think they are actually food-friendly. The rest of the ladies were painting items for gifts and such. It has me thinking with Christmas coming up. Which reminds me, I really need to start thinking about that.
