Topped Off With a Touch of Frost Bite

It wasn't the best of weeks. Not the worst, but definitely not the best. Tuesday morning started off with an email saying that my employer is being sold. The headquarters is moving to the Midwest. The feeling around the office is that we'll have to find new jobs. So beings the process of updating the portfolio, resume and such. We in theory have until January 1st to find new jobs. Time will tell how this all shakes out. Needless to say that made for a few days of chaos while we tried to figure out what it all means to us as employees.

By the end of the week I realized that my ear felt a little on the strange side. I think somewhere along the line, my ear was slightly frost bitten. I'm not kidding. Ever had a post-sunburn skin peel? It feels even stranger than that. Given that I just cutback all my nails isn't helping the situation any.

The good news for the week is that I'm trying to get back on the elliptical. I'm starting off with 20 minutes at a modest pace every other day to keep from shocking my poor joints. My last cholestrol numbers came back fairly disappointing but from what I'm told, it may be a winter influence because I really tried improving my diet over the last year. It really wasn't a fair test. We'll try again in six months at a better time of the year.

And I ended with weekend with lunch with a friend. Yeay!!! Every once in a while I try to have a social life. It was great to catch up with my old commuting buddy.

On another note, Mom's getting ready to redo the outside of the house (windows, siding, roof, etc), but that's a story for another day. We have a contractor picked. Now it's just a matter of picking the colors. The funny thing is that she turned up her nose at my initial selection. Guess what she's now eyeing up? And they thought I was smoking something originally.
