Jumping into Netflix
About six and a half years ago my father pointed out a neat insert that came with my DVD player for a service called Netflix. At the time, the epiphany light bulb didn't go off for me. Having recently purchased several DVDs that I'll probably only watch once (and have to move/store), that light bulb finally went off.
I'm starting off with the 1 DVD at-a-time unlimited for the month plan. Right now, I see only being able to watch one DVD a weekend. If I assume about $15 per new release DVD, I'm saving a bunch of money (maybe more than $30 per month). And, I don't have to find a new place to put them. I think the next step is to go through my DVD collection. I'm considering selling off some of my "one watch wonders" on Amazon's Marketplace. Even if I sell them for only a few dollars, it's a few more dollars than I had - along with freeing up space.
All in all, I think I'm getting more for my money by joining Netflix. I don't think it's a stretch to say it's financially responsible entertainment.
